How to Create a Custom Link
This guide explains how to create memorable, branded, and specific referral links for your affiliates. Custom Links allow you to replace random tracking IDs with clear, professional URLs that lead to higher engagement and conversion rates.
Follow these steps to generate a personalized link for a specific affiliate.
Select the Affiliate. From your main merchant dashboard, navigate to the Affiliates section. Find the specific affiliate you want to create a link for and click on their name to open their profile.
Initiate Link Creation. Within the affiliate's profile details, scroll down to the "Referral links" section and click the "New Link" button.
Configure the Link Options. A configuration window will appear with three key fields to customize:
Destination URL (Optional): Use this to create a "deep link" to a specific page on your store, such as a product, collection, or landing page. If left blank, the link will default to your homepage.
Link Appearance: This is the unique, branded text that appears at the end of the URL.
Example: To create
yourstore.com/ALICE, simply enterALICEin this field.
Auto-apply Discount (Optional): When enabled, the affiliate's unique discount code will automatically apply to the customer's cart upon clicking the link.
Important Prerequisite: For this to work, you must first have an active Discount Rule for the affiliate's Group.
Save and Activate. Once you have configured your options, click "Save." The new custom link will appear in the affiliate's profile and their personal dashboard immediately.
Important Rules to Remember
Uniqueness: Link appearances must be unique across your entire program. You cannot assign the same "Appearance" (e.g.,
/SUMMER) to two different affiliates.Case Sensitivity: URLs are case-sensitive, which means Summer and SUMMER are considered duplicates.
Automatic Tracking: Even though these links look different, they use the same underlying tracking technology as standard links, ensuring the affiliate always receives credit for the sale.
What Happens Next?
Your affiliate can now copy their new custom link directly from their dashboard. Because these links are shorter and more descriptive, they are perfect for use in Instagram Bios, YouTube Descriptions, or Podcast call-to-actions.
