How Overrides Work (The Priority Rule)
If a product has an override, Simple Affiliate will ignore the group's default rate and use the specific value you've set.
What if a product is in multiple collections? If a single product belongs to multiple collections that each have different commission overrides, the system will always apply the highest available commission rate to ensure the affiliate is fairly rewarded.
Step-by-Step Configuration
1. Access the Group Settings
From your main merchant dashboard, go to the Groups section. Click on the specific group you wish to edit (e.g., "Discount" or "VIP").
2. Open the Commission Editor
Scroll down to the Commission settings section and click the "Set product & collection specific commission" button.
3. Setting Overrides (Choose Your Method)
You can choose to apply overrides to entire categories of products or to individual items/variants.
Option A: Collection-Level Commissions
Use this for broad strokes, such as setting a 15% rate for your entire "Accessories" collection.
Click the "Add collections" button.
Search or browse your Shopify collections in the pop-up window. Check the box for the collections you want to include and hit "Select."
Set the Rates: For each collection, you can set both a standard Commission and a first-time customer commission.
Option B: Individual Product & Variant Commissions
Use this for specific high-ticket items or items with unique margins.
Scroll to the Products list below the collections area.
Filter & Find: Use the search bar to filter by product title, type, or specific Variant ID.
Enter the Rate: Type the specific percentage or flat amount in the field next to the product or variant.
Option C: Bulk Editing
To save time, use the checkboxes on the left to select multiple products at once. A bulk action bar will appear, allowing you to apply a single commission rate to all selected items simultaneously.
After configuring your product-specific commissions, be sure to save your changes. Any rates you set here will automatically override the group's default commission rate for those specific products. The default rate will continue to apply to all other products that do not have a specific commission defined.
4. Save and Verify
Click "Save" at the top of the page to lock in your overrides.
The Overridden Items: Will now calculate commissions based on these new rules.
The Rest: Any product not listed with an override will continue to use the group's default commission rate.
What Happens Next?
These changes are effective immediately for all future referrals. We recommend checking your Sales Report after the next few orders to verify that the math aligns with your new overrides.
